Specialities or Types of Psychology

The study of human behaviour is divided into many specialties or types of psychology. Many of these different disciplines overlap. That is, a school psychologist may assess and treat a child with a psychological disorder. Or the child may be referred to a clinical psychologist for more involved therapy.

 Types of Psychology

Clinical Psychology

Community Psychology

Counselling Psychology

Development Psychology

Educational Psychology

Environmental Psychology

Experimental Psychology

Family Psychology

Forensic Psychology

Geriatric Psychology

Health Psychology

Organisational Psychology

Physiological Psychology

Positive Psychology

Rehabilitation Psychology

School Psychology

Social Psychology

Sports Psychology

Psychometrics

Clinical psychologists treat people who exhibit mental or emotional disorders which range from uncomfortable reactions to the stress of daily life to extreme psychological disorders.

Community psychology is mostly preventative in nature. These psychologists specialize in human behaviour at home, at school, and in neighbourhoods.

Counselling psychologists are therapists who help clients adjust to life, make important decisions, and help people cope. This field of human behaviour is similar to clinical psychology.

Developmental psychology focuses on human development from birth to death. This type of psychology describes, measures, and explains age-related changes in behaviour.

Educational psychology is research-oriented, and focuses on how people learn. Teachers, school administrators, and guidance counsellors may apply the findings of educational psychologists in schools, colleges, or universities.

Environmental psychologists attempt to improve the interactions between humans and the environment. The management of natural resources, effects of extreme environments, and architectural design are part of this branch of human behaviour.

Experimental psychology focuses on basic processes of human interaction and biology. This type of psychology often involves studies on animals and people.

Family psychologists are therapists who concentrate on the family and how it affects our development and lives. Sexual dysfunction and family counselling may be subsections of family psychology.

Forensic psychologists study criminal behaviour, and often assist law enforcement agencies in criminal investigations.

Geriatric psychology focuses on the health and well-being of older people. This field of human behaviour includes both practical and research applications.

Health psychology is a branch of human behaviour that is concerned with the psychological implications of actions on health. For instance, smoking, weight gain, stress management and fitness can affect our mental health – and that’s what health therapists focus on.

Organizational psychology focuses on our relationships to work. This study of human behaviour includes career counselling, cross-training, retirement planning, and job productivity.

Physiological psychology is about the genetic and physical roots of psychological disorders, such as how our brains change due to drug use or how cells develop and function.

Positive psychology is a relatively new area in the study of human behaviour. It encompasses a holistic approach to mental wellness, with a shift away from disease to personal wellness and health.

Psychometrics focuses on psychological testing and assessment. Psychometrists are employed at private companies and government organizations.

Rehabilitation psychologists help people with handicaps, such as birth trauma or stroke, improve their functioning in the world. This field of human behaviour ranges from birth to old age.

School psychology focuses on the intellectual and emotional development of young people.

Social psychology explores how we live in the world. Pop cultural, group behaviour, the media, and our attitudes and opinions are all part of social psychology.

Sport psychologists are therapists who concentrate on the mental and emotional factors that affect professional or amateur athletes. Sport therapists attempt to maximize motivation and performance.

WHY ANDHRA GOVERNOR RESIGNS IF HE IS INNOCENT?- INDIAN PEOPLE STARTS DISCUSSIONS OVER POLITICIANS PERSONAL LIVES

ND TIWARI RESIGNS AFTER SEX SCANDAL

ND TIWARI RESIGNS AFTER SEX SCANDAL

Senior Congress leader and Governor of Andhra Pradesh N D Tiwari resigned after an alleged sex scandal in another blow to the ruling Congress party which is facing protests over statehood demands there.

Governor N.D. Tiwari, a top representative of India’s president in Andhra Pradesh state, resigned late on Saturday after a local television channel ABN Andhrajyothi aired a video of the 86-year-old Congress leader allegedly in bed with three young women.

Tiwari said the footage was doctored, but an embarrassed Congress party asked the governor to resign.

The Congress faces a political crisis in the state as the local Telangana MPs, MLAs, other local political representatives gave resignations demanding statehood for Telangana region.

But, the people in India gossipping about the politicians personal lives and even abusing politicians on air for involving in such heinous acts without giving minimum preference to the post they held.

Tiwari’s office said the veteran politician, who has held positions of Congress chief minister in the past resigned on health grounds.

“Whatever the reasons, this comes at a very bad time for the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh,” said Ganguli, a political analyst.

The three-and-half minute footage was the most watched video on YouTube in India and newspapers splashed front page stories on the sex scandal that has sparked online debates on the conduct of politicians in India.

The Congress party, which has been criticised by the opposition for distancing itself from a move to carve the Telangana state after initially announcing its support, welcomed Tiwari’s resignation and appointed new governor ESL Narasihan, a former IPS officer, in his place.

Is Hyderabad the reason to the on going clashes in Andhra Pradesh? what makes the andhra and seema people so angry?

“Yes, the on going fight is definitely for the Hyderabad and its surrounding areas,”  confirms Undavalli Arun Kumar, Rajamundry Congress MP, in an interview to a telugu news channel.  He also says that Andhra and Rayalaseema people have put immense of wealth and built houses in Hyderabad and in its surrounding areas as it is the state capital for Andhra Pradesh. “Where will they go,” he questioned.

India’s home minister announcement of initiating the legislative process of creating Telangana state spurred a backlash in other regions of Andhra Pradesh that has steadily escalated. The news papers reported over the weekend that protesters set several railroad stations and government offices on fire. Meanwhile, 150 members of the State Assembly tendered their resignations, though none have yet been accepted. Many of the resignations were from members of the Congress Party, threatening its majority status in the state government. News reports also suggested that as many as 90 people had started their own hunger strikes to prevent partition.

The turmoil began this month when a  Telangana regional party Chief, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, staged a 10-day hunger strike demanding that the Congress Party fulfill a past commitment to pursue statehood for the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh. Thousands of pro-Telangana students demonstrated as Mr. Rao’s health began to deteriorate. Late last Wednesday, India’s home minister announced that the central government would initiate the legislative process of creating a Telangana State. Mr. Rao ended his fast.

Though the Telangana statehood movement has existed for decades, advocates say the region is deprived of equitable shares of resources, jobs, educational opportunities and other benefits.

But Hyderabad, the capital of Andhra Pradesh and once the capital of Telangana, has become the reason for the ongoing clashes between separatists and united andhra forces. The town has been developed in all aspects and other region people of Andhra Pradesh are living here as the city is the main source for jobs, educational institutions, health centres, hospitality and for other resources.

Over all, Analysts aver that the politicians from other regions like Rayalaseema, Kosta and Andhra have taken up the stand of `United Andhra Pradesh’ as they have no chance of getting Hyderabad into their region. They also worry union territory status to Hyderabad would not profit them as it is in the middle of  Telangana region. The protest of people, employees, software engineers and NRIs over the fate of  Hyderabad would indicate that the ongoing fight is definitely for the Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.
